Definitive Technology has debuted the Mythos XTR-50 on-wall home speaker system, which the company is touting around as the “world’s thinnest” of its kind.
Measuring in at only 1.5-inches thick, the XTR-50 is certainly thin, but not everyone agrees that this is a record-breaker. And I’m not sure if this device would actually look like it’s “floating in air” à la science fiction films, as per the product description, it probably would appear to blend in nicely with a home entertainment system in your living room.
Another design note on the Mythos XTR-50 is the aluminum-built enclosure to make the device lighter, stronger and cooler (temperature-wise).
And as for actual sound, Definitive Tech implemented XTDD technology forwide frequency range and broad sound dispersion. But don’t expect too many frills beyond that, as the XTR-50 will provide the same amount of sound definition and detail as other on-wall speakers in the same class.
You can pick one up today for $700.
